The Grammy winning girl group had the iconic line up of T Boz, Chilli, and left Eye during their prime. TLC is among the most successful girl groups of the 90s with platinum selling albums and numerous chart topping hits. Their 1994 album CrazySexyCool has sold over 23 million copies, 12 million of which were sold in the US. TLC’s outstanding work and influence has earned them countless accolades, including five Grammy Awards and multiple MTV Music Video Awards. Today, TLC comprises only Chilli and Tboz after Left Eye’s passing in 2002.
Salt-N-Pepa’s influence in the industry was so immense that several R&B girl groups, including TLC, were inspired to emerge and follow their format. Last year, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame due to the legacy they have created with their outstanding work. Merging hip-hop and R&B, Salt-N-Pepa released several illustrious hits including “Shoop,” “None of Your Business,” and “Whattaman.” In 2021, they were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The group from Oakland, California is known for their powerful hits like “Free Your Mind,” “Hold On,” and “Whattaman,” which they collaborated with Salt-N-Pepa. The three piece outfit dabbles in funk, soul, dance, hip-hop, and pop – a formula that earned them numerous accolades, including several Grammy nominations.
