Spring season opened with a ton of fantastic happenings. May welcomed the arrival of the hottest 2000s rock co-headlining bonanza, the Awaken the Fallen Tour featuring BREAKING BENJAMIN and STAIND. These two powerhouses became the enigma of turn of the century modern rock and they delivered mindblowing titles like Breaking Benjamin’s “I Will Not Bow,” “Diary of Jane,” and newer smashers like “Fallen” and “Dear Agony.” Meanwhile, Staind served a terrific nostalgic trip when they busted out top rated titles like “Lowest In Me,” “Eyes Wide Open,” and “It’s Been A While.”

The month also saw the arrival of country superstar JASON ALDEAN’s Full Throttle Tour. You betch the country heavyweight delivered all his illustrious hits on this grand night of music. The show also featured special guests NATE SMITH and newcomer RAELYN. Speaking of heavyweights, rock legend Maynard James Keenan brought along his world famous bands, PRIMUS, PUSCIFER, and A PERFECT CIRCLE to the Blossom Music Center. The Sessanta V. 2.0 Tour delivered all the sides of his musical genius and it was a fully packed night of head bang worthy hits. We have to say the rock veteran had no problems performing full sets of his three bands.

Of course May totally went out with a bang with touring monsters Dave Matthews Band arriving to rock the night away with their tumultuous jams. The band, known for bringing in thousands upon thousands of fans wherever they go, delivered a terrific setlist which included illustrious titles like “Madman’s Eyes,” “Crash Into Me,” and “Walk Around the Moon.” As expected from these touring veterans, the show was flawless. It definitely upped the ante in terms of live performances standards.

June signified the start of Blossom Music Center’s busy summer season. For starters, there are more shows this month compared to the last. On June 18, folk rock icons MUMFORD AND SONS brought their massive showcase to town for the Rushmere Tour. On this run, the band promoted their latest album and performed a myriad of brand new titles like “Rushmere” and “Caroline.” A few days later, the venue welcomed the gargantuan festival, the Outlaw Music Festival. Headlined by the legendary WILLIE NELSON, the show also featured folk rock and country heavyweights like BOB DYLAN, NATHANIEL RATELIFF AND THE NIGHTS SWEATS, and BRUCE HORSNBY. The show featured two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends Nelson and Dylan. It was a momentous moment for music fanatics. The Outlaw Music Festival conquered the venue on June 21 and on June 24, another Rock and Roll Hall of Famer arrived. On June 3, the Blossom Music Center shook with I Can’t Hear You Tour. The outing is headlined by San Diego born powerhouse PIERCE THE VEIL who’s celebrating nearly two decades of music. The staggering rock bonanza also featured performances from SLEEPING WITH SIRENS and BEACH WEATHER.

Before June ended, Australian country star KEITH URBAN brought a lasting roaring spectacle for his coveted High and Alive Tour. Critics lauded this performance for its dynamism and fully stacked setlist. Cleveland.com mentioned in their review that Urban turned this event into a rock country party, “Part of what gives Urban’s show a ‘good old-fashioned’ feel is that, while the records are perfectly constructed for maximum catchiness on country and pop radio, onstage Urban likes to stretch out a bit.  he added breakdowns and extended guitar solos to the opening threefer and several other tunes. During one such breakdown in the poppy Long Hot Summer,’ Urban used his guitar neck and microphone as a makeshift drum kit.” The show also featured special guests CHASE MATTHEWS and ALANA SPRINGSTEEN.

JULY

The month opened with two days of holiday spectacles as the BLOSSOM MUSIC FESTIVAL: A SALUTE TO AMERICA delivered a celebration on July 3 and 4. Families and groups of friends came out to commemorate Fourth of July with a bang, complete with music, food, and other memorable activities.

Summer’s getting a little bit heated up in July and that means more shows come to the venue. This month’s line up was beyond packed. For starters, the CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA started their summer season and delivered several showcases including two nights of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert, Carmina Burana, and Beethoven’s Pastoral. Not to mentioned, the orchestra did a special showcase with Grammy winner and Wicked star CYNTHIA ERIVO for a timeless and once in a lifetime concert.

On July 15, WIZ KHALIFA and SEAN PAUL joined forces for the Good VIbes Only Tour. This unlikely partnership serves a mind blowing genre defying spectacle with Kahlif and Paul serving their most famous hits. It’s a great co-headlining gig that was not in anyone’s bingo card but ultimately still the most awesome concert to ever arrive at the Blossom Music Center.

In this month, the legendary metal band, PANTERA arrived to tear up the stage with their neck breaking hits. Original members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown along with Zakk Wylde and Charlie Bentante kept the magic of 90s groove metal alive in this mind blowing gig. Fans definitely got what they wished for with the delivery of hits like “Cowboys From Hell,” “5 Minutes Alone,” “Hell Bound,” and many more. The show was also opened by Swedish melodic death metal band AMON AMARTH who hails from Sweden had vikings battle on stage, literally.

Timeless hip-hop music took center stage the next day upon the arrival of NELLY, JA RULE, and EVE. The Where the Party at Tour celebrates the 25th anniversary of Nelly’s most successful effort Country Grammar.
