He started working with bluegrass musician Alison Krauss in 2007, and they later released the album Raising Sand, which won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2009 and featured the smash hit "Please Read the Letter," which also won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
The duo has released their second project, titled "Raise the Roof," and are touring in aid of its promotion. On November 19, 2021, the album was made available by Rounder Records, Concord Records, and Warner Music in the US and other countries. In addition to Best Americana Album, Best American Roots Song for "High and Lonesome," and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Going Where the Lonely Go," the album was nominated for three Grammy Awards at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
