Lady Antebellum is one of the contemporary country music stars who quickly caught the undivided attention of country music fans due to the trio’s rich harmonies and impeccable instrumental skills. Formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006, the band is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals, guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin).
In 2007, they made their debut as guest vocalists viaJim Brickman's single "Never Alone". From there, they released their own albums, with three out of six albums hitting the multiplatinum mark. The albums have spawned sixteen singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, of which nine have reached number one. The single "Need You Now" spent a whopping five weeks at the number one position in 2009, making it their longest-running number single. In 2011's the single "Just a Kiss" reached number one on the Adult Contemporary charts. By August 2013, the group had sold more than 12.5 million digital singles and 10 million albums in the US alone.
Lady Antebellum not only swept the charts. Major award-giving bodies gave them well-deserved citations. The band was awarded Top New Duo or Group by the Academy of Country Music and New Artist of the Year by the Country Music Association in 2008. Over at the Grammy fence, Lady Antebellum took home five trophies at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for "Need You Now". Lady Antebellum also scored "Best Country Album" at the 54th Grammy Awards.
With their current album out in the market, the band is raring to hit the road. “After our Vegas residency and working on this record for the past year we are itching to get back out on the road and see how the fans gravitate to some of the deeper cuts off of Ocean,” Charles Kelley said. “We’ve missed those huge crowd sing-alongs and we are looking forward to having Jake Owen and Maddie & Tae light up the stage every night. May can’t come fast enough.”
